Goldie Curry, Director
For three years, Goldie Curry served as the principle at Lagunitas
School District, a K-8 district with three elementary
programs and a
middle school
with an
integrated,
project-based
curriculum,
while also
presiding over
their special
education
program. Most
recently, Goldie
has been an
administrator for Special Education Programs with the
Sonoma County Office of Education.
Goldie has an Administrative Service Credential, a Master of Arts in Administration and an additional Master of Arts in Human Development. She is able to support new teachers in obtaining a Clear California Teaching Credential, as a Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) mentor.
Goldie has a wealth of experience and training as an educator. She has a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and a Special Education Credential, a BA in Child Development and a myriad of professional skills. Much of Goldie Curry’s career has been in the service of children and their education. She has over twenty years experience as an educator - fifteen of those as a special education teacher, for infants all the way up to high school aged, and four years experience overall as an administrator. She has experience, as both a teacher and a principal, in the implementation of project-based curricula, and is aligned with the REACH School mission to teach the whole child, including the implicit curriculum.
Goldie says: “The qualities that I have learned to be essential for effective leadership in any school setting -- authenticity, honesty, integrity, openness, respect, fairness and consistency – are at the core of my character and have proven to be a powerful platform supporting my success, both as a teacher and principal, for over 25 years. In my roles as administrator, mentor, educator, advocate and community leader, I strive to model these qualities each and every day, and to promote an expectation to colleagues, staff and students that these qualities will be reciprocated, cultivated and reflected schoolwide.”
Goldie is very excited about the prospect of leading a small, community-based school. She has an uncompromised view that “all students can thrive and progress, given a positive learning atmosphere that welcomes exploration and enhances student confidence”. It is Goldie’s belief that an educator’s mission is to make school enjoyable, exciting and welcoming.
