The beauty is that our students and teachers achieved most excellent results through covering the state standards in creative and engaging ways and not “teaching to the test.” REACH
works! Some highlights of the details follow:
- Over 90% of all REACH students tested proficient or advanced in English Language Arts. The cumulative state average for 4th to 8th graders testing proficient or advanced in English Language Arts is 54%.
- Just under 75% of all REACH students tested proficient or advanced
in Math. The Cumulative state average for 4th to 8th grades testing proficient
or advanced in math is 52%.
- Not all students take science tests every year but of those who did, 100% of REACH taking science tests tested proficient of advanced. The state average for students testing proficient or advanced on their science tests in 5th and 8th grade is 56%.
- Similarly, not all students will be tested in social studies but of the REACH students who were, 75% of those test tested proficient or advanced. The state average testing proficient or advanced on this test is 42%.
Bottom line: Our teachers excellent and not always traditional instruction was effective and our students learned lots last year!
